Ten Year Anniversary (August 7, 2021)

Dear Family & Friends:

Not sure where to begin with this post. We do not know how to even process the emotions of what August 7th holds. It has been ten years since Brent crossed over. Ten years of experiencing moments that we have not discussed. Ten years without phone calls, or sharing hearty laughs. Facing this reality is difficult. It feels like he left yesterday, but it also feels like it has been forever.

We ask that you remember Brent for a few moments with us on August 7th by thinking of a great memory, sharing about it on his guest book, or saying a prayer. We have 3″ stickers of the above image available. Feel free to reach out if you would like a memorial sticker.

Five Year Anniversary (August 7, 2016)

It is hard to comprehend that it has been five years since Brent was called upon to serve a higher purpose and quest. Some say loss is easier with time; however, it still feels as if it just occurred yesterday.

Three Year Anniversary (August 7, 2014)

It is has been three years since Brent was called upon to serve a higher purpose and quest.  However, it still feels as if it just occurred yesterday.

20140808_090149Our family was deeply touched that Brent’s friends from Texas sent a beautiful bouquet of roses and Easter lilies.

During Brent’s life, he touched the lives and hearts of countless individuals.  It means a lot us that his legacy continues to live on in the memories and hearts of family and friends.

Deep Thoughts

Many people are unaware that exactly one year to the date prior to his passing, Brent was shot during an attempted carjacking. It has plagued our family with many questions and theories since it sounds like something out of a Final Destination movie.

Mother’s Day (May 12th 2013)

Happy Mother’s Day from Reina & Brent.  The arrangement ordered was supposed to be pink, but yet again, Brent had some behind the scenes influence and had the florist change the color to blue.

Happy 95th Birthday Grandma Tre (March 2013)

DSC_0877 March 24th was Grandma Tre’s 95th Birthday.  Coincidentally, in the flowers sent to Grandma Tre from Reina & Brent, the florist included a butterfly, which was not in the arrangement design online.  We like to think that was Brent’s unique touch.  😉

Out of the Darkness Walk (May 2012)

In Brent’s memory, his mom (Susan) and sister (Reina) participated in the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk. Prior to the event, they were required to raise $1,000 each to participate in the event. Net proceeds raised benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, advocacy, survivor support, education and awareness programs, including the suicide helpline that has helped countless individuals in their time of crisis. By registration on June 9th, they had raised a total of $2,830, far exceeding the requirement through the generous support of family and friends. Together, participants raised more than $2.3 Million and, from dusk to dawn, helped to bring issues of depression, mental illness and suicide out of the darkness and into the light.

Their walk began at Fort Mason, where a few key note speakers shared their stories. When they reached the Palace of Fine Arts, they were surprised to discover that a few family members had shown up to cheer them on in person at the cheering stations. In the end, they walked 7.5 miles to a rest stop before hitching a ride back to Fort Mason, where they walked an additional 1.5 miles through the seemingly endless luminary lights of those lost through suicide. As they walked, both gained strength, clarity and wisdom from other families and individuals forever affected by suicide. This was truly an emotional and enriching journey.

Thank you to all the friends and family that supported Susan and Reina both emotionally and financially in this truly unforgettable experience.

Click to read an article written in the RCBA Magazine by Reina regarding the experience (on page 11).
